Gum-Arabic Gets a Boost

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has agreed to fund establishment of an African centre for gum-Arabic in Khartoum, in September.

The Secretary General of Gum Arabic Council, Dr. Abdul Majid Abdul Gadir, said on Sunday the centre aims at serving the African countries in issues pertinent to gum Arabic production and provision.

Meanwhile, a gum Arabic referral laboratory will be established in Sudan under the auspices of First Vic President cum Prime Minister Bakri Hassan Salih.

Sudan commands over 80% of the world’s gum Arabic production and trade.
