Rainy Season
10 August, 2017The contrast is starking: for Khartoum inhabitants the rainy season has been for years linked to calamities: inundations and floods, mosquitos, multitudes of other vectors and muddy terrains. A few kilos outside the national capital, it is paradise for the man in the field.
If the rainy season is not received with a smile by Khartoum inhabitants then it is because of the hardships it brings along with it, partially due to improper sewage system and debris of flourishing housing activities all over the place.
In rural areas, this the other face of Janus, the other face of the coin. This is the time spring, literally springs up and stays there for three months.
During this period vast plains shake away their dusty attire and put on lavish green cover, that attracts birds of many feathers: acres after acres of land are mellowing with green cover, trees, herbs, plants and trees wake up from a dormant dry seasons, releasing lovely scents: in the minimum the season cools away the blazes of summer.
But it also means a season for consuming fresh organic food and production of crops on which they depend for their living. Life is never more beautiful for the villagers.
