KHARTOUM (Sudanow.info.sd) - President Omar al-Bashir arrived back home early Friday from Cairo concluding a two-day official visit to Egypt.
Minister of foreign Affairs Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour said in press statements at Khartoum airport that the Joint Higher Presidential Committee between the Sudan and Egypt was convened during the visit headed by President al-Bashir and his Egyptian counterpart Abdul Fatah al-Sisi for the first time.
A document on comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries addition to 13 other agreements have also been signed during the visit, Ghandour said. The strategic partnership agreement has covered the bases of bilateral relations between the two peoples, countries and governments in the various political, economic, social and security fields, he added.
Both presidents pledged to work for overcoming all hurdles and challenges to maintain the strong and historic relations between the two countries.
President al-Bashir and the Sudan delegation have also took part in the celebrations marking the Egyptian October 1973 Victory over Israel. Al-Sisi awarded al-Bashir the Egyptian army Order of Honour star for his participation with Sudanese army units in the October War and the War of Attrition after 1967.
Ghandour said President al-Bashir has held a closed meeting with the leader of the Democratic Unionist Party Mohamed Osman al-Mirghani during which they discussed issues of the National Dialogue and its coming important meetings in 9 and 10 October.
