Sudanow Extends Eid Al-Adha Greetings to the Muslim Ummah
27 May, 2026
Khartoum (Sudanow) — Today, the Muslim Ummah celebrates the blessed occasion of Eid Al-Adha. The editorial family of Sudanow Magazine extends its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the great Sudanese people and to the Islamic nation across the world, praying to Almighty Allah to return this occasion upon us for many years to come while our homeland enjoys peace, stability, and security.
Eid Al-Adha is one of the two major Islamic feasts, the other being Eid Al-Fitr. It falls on the tenth day of Dhul-Hijjah, following the Day of Arafah, during which Muslim pilgrims perform the greatest ritual of Hajj. The celebrations continue until the thirteenth day of Dhul-Hijjah.

This blessed occasion commemorates the story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him, who saw in a dream that Allah commanded him to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael). When he faithfully prepared to fulfill the divine command, Allah sent down a ram from heaven as a ransom and sacrifice in place of Ismail. In remembrance of this profound act of faith and obedience, Muslims draw closer to Allah by sacrificing livestock — sheep, cattle, or camels — and distributing the meat among relatives, the poor, and their households. Hence came the name “Eid Al-Adha,” the Feast of Sacrifice.
On this المبارك occasion, we renew the call to revive the values of solidarity, compassion, cooperation, and social responsibility among the Sudanese people. These noble values must serve as the foundation for building a cohesive and resilient society founded on social justice, national responsibility, and mutual support — a society where the capable stand beside those in need, and where all citizens share the burdens of this critical national phase.
To bring an end to the suffering of millions of displaced and affected people, national duty requires political and community forces to unite behind a comprehensive national project that supports the stability of the country, safeguards its unity and sovereignty, and closes the door to external interference and conspiracies targeting Sudan and its security.
We pray to Almighty Allah to protect Sudan and its people, and to return this blessed occasion upon us with peace and security prevailing across our homeland, and with our people united in goodness, prosperity, and national renaissance.
