Sudanese Wins “Best Newcomer” Award in Norway in Recognition of His Contributions to Society

Sudanese businessman and talented musician Saif Eldin Ali Ismail Elsheikh has been awarded the Årets Tilflytter (Best Newcomer) prize by the Mayor of Sunnfjord, Jenny Folling, in Norway.
This award is granted to individuals who create a positive impact and contribute to promoting integration and harmony within the local community.
Saif is one of the most influential figures in Sudan's cultural and social scene. He founded Vanguard Media, one of Sudan's leading creative media institutions, as well as Vision 101.3 FM, renowned for its innovative programming. He also gained widespread recognition through his popular radio show Sudan Boom Box, which focused on promoting Sudanese art and culture. In addition to his achievements in media, Saif also had a distinguished sports career in basketball, playing for the Greek Club in Sudan.
In 2022, Saif moved with his family to the city of Forde in Sunnfjord, Norway, embarking a new chapter in his life as bringing his rich expertise and creative vision. Despite his short time in Norway, he has made a significant impact on the local community through various volunteer efforts and initiatives aimed at fostering cultural and social connections.
Since his arrival in Sunnfjord, Saif has been involved in organizing the skiing season at the Bjornamoen Resort and contributed to the production of the Forde Cultural Festival, one of the region’s most prominent events.
In 2023, he established the Forde Basketball Team, which joined the fourth-division league with two teams, in addition to supporting the coaching of the under 19 junior team. His efforts have helped strengthen local sports and create new opportunities for youth.
Beyond these achievements, Saif has recently joined the production team of Westland Theatre, working on creative projects that integrate art and technology. He is also in the process of establishing a new company in Sunnfjord in collaboration with a group of experts specializing in theatre and advanced technologies, including Extended Reality (XR). This initiative promises pioneering contributions that will enrich Norway’s cultural and artistic landscape.
Saif Eldin Ali Ismail Elsheikh’s journey stands as a testament to the inspiring Sudanese spirit one that blends creativity, generosity, and integration into diverse societies. His story, from Sudan to Norway, carries a powerful message about perseverance, achieving dreams, and building bridges of understanding between cultures.
