Saudi Arabia, UAE Provide $3 Billion In Assistance For Sudan
21 April, 2019KHARTOUM (Sudanow) - Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have decided to put three billion dollars at the disposal of the Transitional Military Council government, to “help strengthen the financial position of the Sudan.”
The Saudi and UAE official news agencies said the leadership of the two gulf countries have decided to provide a package of assistance of $3b to the Sudan including half a billion dollar as deposit at the Sudanese Central Bank, the Bank of the Sudan.
They said the two countries have also underlined that the remainder of the sum will be used to meet the urgent needs of the people of the Sudan including food, medication and petroleum product.
They said they took this initiative in observance of their duty towards the brotherly Sudanese people and on the basis of constructive cooperation and in support of the sister Sudan state.
The two countries had quickly dispatched high powered delegation that held in camera meeting with the Transitional Military council, last week. The spokesman for the council, though he did not name the two, promised the Sudanese people that “some good “news about basic needs in wheat and petroleum were in the pipeline.
