The First Artificial Intelligence Conference in Sudan steps towards Promising Future & facing contemporary challenges

Port Sudan (Sudanow Magazine) Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a technology similar to human capabilities of problem-solving. In a research published by Alan Turing in 1950 under title’’ Intelligence & Calculators’’ who tackled if these Calculators could think. ? He wrote for the first time expiration of (artificial intelligence) in his paper research and known as a philosophy and theorical conception. However, (AI) as we know it today, is a collective effort to numerous scientists and engineers over several decades, while applications and technologies of artificial intelligence have increased significantly in last few years. The first Artificial Intelligence Conference in Sudan was held in (20 - 22 ) of current September under the auspices of the University of Al- Nilain and AL-Mizab Digital Library, under title of "Towards Pioneering Scientific and Research Horizons." The conference sessions were held remotely across several online- platforms. The conference sessions discussed several scientific papers submitted by a group of scholars and researchers from in and out- side Sudan, that boosted academic dialogue and strengthen research cooperation in field of artificial intelligence. The conference clearly tackled challenges associated with the application of artificial intelligence, such as data bias and the need for reliable data sources, as well as protecting intellectual property of result that had been reached.
(Sudanow) talked to Executive Director of AL-Mizab Digital Library , Dr. Saad Mamon Alwan who said ‘’ it is the first conference of Artificial Intelligence in Sudan (2025) which organized in cooperating between Al- Nilain University and AL-Mizab Digital Library. This conference is a milestone in pathway of education and scientific research in our country and was hold in a critical period of Sudan history. we are in atmosphere of war challenges and current obstacles to hold such conferences But the Organizers Will and determination of the participants facilitated all obstacles , besides the conference included specialized elites of researches and Scientifics in and out Sudan to tackle the modern applications and global trends in field of (AI) ‘’This had wide positive impact on Sudanese academic and research communities.
‘’Meanwhile, the conference raised level of awareness of AI’s role to develop researches in multidisciplinary ‘’ Dr Alwan said and continued the conference open door to build cooperation bridges between the Sudanese Universities and its international and regional counterparts.
It's worth noting that the conference included an awareness and training component on artificial intelligence technologies. Five speakers submitted scientific papers on its applications in various fields, while three university professors led specialized training workshops on artificial intelligence tools. These activities were widely praised by attendees and created significant interaction, reflecting the importance of this practical aspect. Among the most prominent outcomes of the conference were the issuance of practical and powerful recommendations encourage for investment in technical infrastructure, the development of specialized training programs, formulation of clear legislative and regulatory policies, as well as support for research and innovation initiatives that serve Sudanese society and enhance its position in field of science and technology.
In conclusion, holding the Conference in Sudan represents an important enlightenment and proactive thinking for the advancement of post-war Sudan by accelerating reconstruction efforts through innovative technical solutions in infrastructure and services, renovation education and scientific research with modern means that ensure the continuity of learning, developing the agricultural, industrial, health and rescue sectors using smart tools for diagnosis and response to crises, and opening door wide to a knowledge economy based on innovation and investment in the future. So" a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step’’.
