Prof. Hunud Abia Named Vice Chancellor Of International University Of Africa

KHARTOUM (Sudanow) - The academic community and the media have celebrated the well-deserved appointment of Prof. Dr. Hunud Abia Kadouf as Vice Chancellor of the International University of Africa here.
Prof. Kadouf is widely known for his distinction at the academic, professional and social levels.
He had served for many years as Dean of the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah (Faculty) of Laws at the International Islamic University, Malaysia. He is Editor-in-Chief, IIUM Law Journal and Associate Editor, Journal of Public Security and Safety, the latter is published by the Institute of Public Security of Malaysia (IPSOM).
The International University of Africa is based in Khartoum and has its origins in the Islamic African Centre, established in 1977. It had graduated thousands of students from around Africa. The University is believed to be funded by regional Arab and Islamic bodies in a bid to consolidate Africa’s relation and understanding with the Muslim World. Many of the University’s graduates now assume high positions in the different professional spheres of their respective countries.
Prof. Kadouf, who was born in 1944 in the Salara District of the Nuba Mountains (South Kordofan State), had been known in the Sudanese, Malaysian and International law circles ever since his graduation with first-class honors from the Faculty of Law, University of Khartoum and during his service at the Faculty and his graduation with M.A and PhD law degrees in the United Kingdom in the early 1980s.
Prof. Kadouf had served as a judge and as a lawyer. He was responsible for designing the bar exam all through his years of service in Sudan, thanks to his precise knowledge of all legal disciplines.
Says Communication Specialist, Dr. Awad Ibrahim Awad about him: We have been privileged with working for ten years with Prof. Hunud in the International Islamic University of Malaysia, during which we came to know quite a lot about the nobility of his great soul, his rich culture and knowledge, his love of his country the Sudan and his wonderful upbringing of his children.
During his work in Malaysia, Prof. Hunud had served as advisor for many of that country’s senior officials. Due to his big talent and his vast legal knowledge, Prof. Hunud went around in Malaysia with the nickname “Ayato Alzaman", literally translated as "The Wonder of The Age”.
His Malaysian students had used to call him “Gurus Alshamas" or "sun disk” in English, also because of his radiating knowledge, according to Prof. Awad.
Dr. Awad also recalled that the ousted President Omar Albashir had insisted upon Prof. Kadouf to represent the country in the Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit on the environment in the early 1990s, even though the conference was meant to be attended by the heads of state and government.
Dr. Awad said Bashir had insisted for Prof. Kadouf to represent Sudan in the conference because he was the only Sudanese to possess a PhD in environmental law. And although Prof. Kadouf was not on good terms with the Bashir Government, he answered the call for the sake of his home country, the Sudan. So, at the summit, he stood on equal footing with the World leaders.
Then immediately after the Summit, Prof. Hunud travelled to Malaysia and stayed there for about thirty years and did not return to Sudan until after the triumph of the December 2018 Revolution.
Prof. Kadouf had published over 50 books and researches, and also attended a countless number of conferences around the world .
He was also assigned as international arbiter in a lot of legal cases.
