Wooping Increases in Hajj Fees
11 July, 2017
Sudanese applicants for pilgrimage this year were struck by the whooping increase of 131% in the hajj fees, against last year’s prices.
At a press conference held by Hajj Authority, officials in Khartoum revealed that hajj fees via air and sea transport will fetch over 42,000 and 37,000 pounds respectively. There is yet another option for those wishing to perform the Hajj, which is known as the luxury option. That is another story, fetching extra tens of millions.
Newspapers columnists have been ripping apart concerned authorities for failing to cut down these incredible increases. They argued that exerting much efforts in accommodation planning in Saudi Arabia holy sites and seeking foreign currency facilities from the Sudan Central Bank would have tame these wild skyrocket increases. It was, in the eyes of some columnists, smelling something fishy.
