Media Community Upbeat About New Broadcasting Boss Lugman Ahmed
09 February, 2020
KHARTOUM (Sudanow) - The media community was gratified by the recent appointment of veteran journalist, BBC Washington Correspondent Lugman Ahmed as General Manager of the Sudanese Broadcasting Corporation that groups both radio and TV official outlets.
Well-wishers hope Mr. Lugman, with his long experience in the local and international media, could upgrade the Corporation’s performance.
Lugman had travelled to the US in the early 1990s, serving as anchorman and bureau chief of Arab and Western satellite channels that include the MBC, the Aljazeera and the BBC Arabic Service.
During his distinct service in those outlets, he conducted spectacular interviews with many politicians and heads of state: He had interviewed US presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. He also craftily covered US elections and presented a genuine reflection of the Darfur issue.
As a journalist, Mr. Lugman was famed for writing high quality professional reports and was known for his solid standing by what he believes.
In recent years Mr. Lugman took a humanitarian course by founding the charity Malam Darfur Organization for Peace and Development to rehabilitate war-ravaged villages in Darfur, beginning with his home village Malam, in South Darfur. In those villages he managed to launch a number of services for the citizens that contributed to the return of IDPs to their original homes. This effort has included the building of schools, places of worship, hospitals and Almayarim Bank to serve the citizens. The Organization is also active in tribal reconciliations in the region.
Mr. Lugman is a graduate of the Faculty of Communication - Omdurman Islamic University. In 1987 he was appointed anchorman in the National TV when he was still a student in the University.
