28 May, 2017
KHARTOUM (Sudanow) - The Sudanese Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have defeated in Kutum Locality in North Darfur State a group that was part of the rebels who fled the battlefield in Wadi Hawar and crossed the border with Chad.
Captin Adam Salih, the RSF spokesman, announced that his forces engaged with the rebels in Ein Siro area in Kutum Locality, North Darfur, on Sunday and inflicted on them heavy losses in lives and equipment, The Sudanese News Agency (SUNA) reported.
He pointed out in a statement to SUNA that the RSF have been chasing and mopping up the areas looking out for remnants of the fleeing troops in the North Darfur and East Darfur axes and that the engagement was still underway.
He described Ein Siro as one of the most difficult area to enter in but that the RSF were able to enter by the sheer will of its youth and gallant forces.
He added in the announcement that was also broadcast by the official Radio Omdurman that the RSF have been chasing the rebels on both fronts in North Darfur and East Darfur states where the rebels simultaneously arrived from Libya and South Sudan last week.
In the wake of the fighting, President Omar al-Beshir has, for the first time, accused Egypt of involvement in the fighting by supporting the rebels, saying that Egyptian armored vehicles were seized by the government forces.
