Sudan Qualifies For World Tent Pegging  Championship  In The U.A.E

KHARTOUM (Sudanow) - Sudan has qualified for the World Tent Pegging Championship, slated for October 2018 in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E).

 

Sudan team has collected 515.5 points, ranking second after World champion South Africa, in the Independence Tent Pegging contest, organized here during 21-23 January.

 

The Sudan team has collected two gold medals on the first day of the contest that brought together Sudan, South Africa, Germany and Morocco.

 

Germany has ranked third in the contest and Morocco the fourth.

 

Presidential Assistant Major General Abdelrahman al-Sadiq al-Mahdi, Waleed Bilal, Hatim Abdallah and Ashraf Osman Digna had played for the Sudan in the games which were held at the Sudan Equestrian Grounds here.

 

The final matches were graced by Presidential Assistant Ibrahim al-Sanoasi who distributed the medals to the winners. Khartoum State’s Sports Minister al-Yasa’a al-Siddiq, the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E and Egypt’s General Consul to Sudan had attended the contest’s finals.

 

Sudan had taken the lead on the first day of the games, while South Africa dominated the second day.

 

Tent pegging (sometimes spelled "tentpegging" is a cavalry sport of ancient origin, and is one of only ten equestrian disciplines officially recognized by the International Equestrian Federation. Used narrowly, the term refers to a specific mounted game with ground targets (pegs) which are picked by players on speeding horses.
