08 September, 2019
KHARTOUM (Sudanow) - Sudan’s new cabinet was sworn in Saturday before the head of the sovereign Council, Lt Gen Abdul Fatah Al Burhan, the Prime Minister and the Chief Justice, ending months of vacuum in Sudan.
The cabinet which was picked up by Dr Abdulla Hamdok upon recommendations by the Forces for Freedom and Change, comprised four ladies, including one in the lead Ministry for Foreign Affairs, a post solely run by men since Sudan’s independence in 1956.
The new Minister for Culture and Information, former human rights activist, Faisal Mohamed Salih, said the ministers held a meeting following the oath taking ceremony in which they pledged to work collectively in harmony for realizing the slogans of the revolution that ended the rule of President Bashir.
Since the ouster of Bashir in April 2019, the country has been going without a proper government, with acting undersecretaries running the daily activities of the civil services.
