KHARTOUM (Sudanow) - The convoy of the Prime Minister, Dr Abdalla Hamdouk, on Monday was subjected to an attempt but he escaped unhurt and is now at his office safe and sound, an official source said Monday.

The attempt occurred early morning Monday when the prime minister was on his way to his office in Khartoum, from Khartoum north, his residence.

The  news agency SUNA quoted government sources as saying that Prime Minister Hamdouk convoy was about to cross the bridge linking Khartoum north to Khartoum, the capital, when an explosion went off damaging a number of cars and vehicles.

This is the first attempt of its kind in recent Sudanese history that a convoy of an official is subjected to such an attempt.
