Farewell to Salah Haj Saeed, the Noble Sadness

Khartoum, Nov.27 (Sudanow) - Sudan bid farewell today, Wednesday, November 23, to the distinguished poet, Mr. Salah Haj Saeed, one of the most prominent Sudanese song poets, who enriched the artistry arena with many immortal songs; The most famous of them is the song “Noble Sorrow” sung by the late Mustafa Sayed Ahmed, which is considered one of the most influential songs in the conscience of the Sudanese people and carried important political and emotional considerations.
Salah Haj Saeed was considered the pioneer of a different vision and a distinctive lyrical color characterized by grief, which contributed to presenting a different artistic model in Sudan.
Critics described Haji Saeed as "a source of magnificence and elegance in lyrical poetry," indicating that his poems sung by great artists constituted a qualitative shift in Sudanese singing. ".
Haji Saeed's poetry was able to keep up with the changes that Sudan witnessed during the past years, which gave it a great influence among the Sudanese, especially the song "The Long Regret" that says: "I kept singing about you, singing sorrow and long regret, and in order to make you happy, I Ride on the impossible.
That "Salah was a translator of the painful societal reality through a group of his poems such as "You are thrown in the mud," which sounds a warning bell.
With the death of Salah Haj Saeed, the artistic and cultural scene in Sudan lost 5 great creators in the year 2022, which made many Sudanese describe it as the year of "noble sadness."
At the beginning of this year, musician Bashir Abbas, who is considered from the old generation, passed away, who composed and distributed many musical works and contributed greatly to highlighting and portraying the art of Sudanese music and singing, and promoting it in the world.
In March, the Sudanese poet, writer and journalist Al-Sir Ahmed Kaddour died at the age of 88; After he wrote more than 40 of the most famous Sudanese songs sung by great singers including Ibrahim Al-Kashef, Salah bin Al-Badia, Al-Balabel and others; He also made many famous theatrical works and texts.
In September, the writer and novelist Neamat Hammoud, who was working in the Department of Culture in the Emirate of Sharjah in the UAE and had great literary contributions, including the novel "Whispering the Seagulls", passed away.
A few weeks before the death of Hajj Saeed; The cultural scene in Sudan bid farewell to the poet and critic Abdullah Shabu, who was considered one of the icons of modern poetry in the country, and three collections of poetry were published for him, namely "Hatib al-Layl" and "A Song for the Person of the Twenty-First Century", in addition to the collection of "The Three Times of the Poet".
