Last Photo Of Martured Policemen Inflames Feeling Of Sadness
27 September, 2020
KHARTOUM (Sudanow) - The social media outlets have exchange a saddening photo of the five policemen killed in a chase with armaments smugglers close to Addaba town north of the country.
The photo was shot by one of the five policemen hours before they were martyred.
The five martyrs are seen in the photo while taking a meal of bread with milk tea they prepared on firewood in the desert.
The photo has inflamed feelings of sadness and awe among the martyrs’ families, their fellow policemen and acquaintances. It looked as if the five brave men wanted to say farewell and to commemorate themselves.
The incident occurred when a police contingent belonging to the customs smuggling combat unit headed from Western Omdurman after receiving information that weapons smugglers were in the area. The police force then started a chase of the bandits but all of a sudden another car appeared on the scene and exchanged fire with the law enforcers, killing all five men last Sunday.
The Sudan Police Force is known to have offered many martyrs in the combat against the smuggling of armaments, humans, gold, fuel and consumer goods along its wide borders with Ethiopia, Eritrea (East), South Sudan, Chad and Central Africa (West) and Egypt and Libya (North).
Customs director Bashir Altahir has revealed in a statement to the press a plan to promote the customs force next year to control crime. “Our forces are fully prepared and is undertaking a wide activity against smugglers,” he said.
“What has happened would not daunt us,” he said.
