IGAD Congratulates New Prime Minister Of Ethiopia
03 April, 2018Djibouti (Sudanow) - The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has congratulated Dr. Abiy Ahmed, for his election as the new Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
A press release said IGAD commends the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) for the wise and principled election of its new Chairperson, H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, who is also the Chair of the Oromo people's Democratic Organization (OPDO), one of the four member parties of the Front.
“Ethiopia, which has embarked on a path of a truly astonishing rapid economic growth, has also been faced with formidable challenges that usually accompany such growth processes.” The press release said adding “It is with this backdrop that the election of H.E. Dr. Abyi was timely and eagerly awaited for.”
The release said IGAD strongly believes that Dr. Abiy, one of the young, dynamic and highly educated members of the EPRDF leadership is up to the mark to lead the Coalition which has deservedly been applauded as the architect of Ethiopia's bench mark status regarding the economic and social progress in the African continent.
The release also welcomed Dr. Abiy as the new Chair of IGAD.
The release added that much work awaits the new leader of Ethiopia in this land of 100 million people, adding that the organization was confident that the new Ethiopian prime minister would accomplish his task with great commitment and dedication.
“IGAD is looking forward to working with H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed and to benefiting from his wisdom, statesmanship, and leadership.” The release concluded.
It is to be noted that IGAD groups each of Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Somalia, the Sudan, South Sudan and Uganda.
