Sudanrenews its commitment on holding the referendum on time

Khartoum, Dec. 27 (Sudanow) – The government on Monday renewed its commitment that the southern Sudan self determination referendum will be held on time, and that it would recognize the results provided they be held in fair and free manner that reflects the real will of the southern Sudanese citizens
ThThe Undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Rahamtallah Mohamed Osman told ambassadors of the permanent members to the UN Security Council, accredited to Khartoum that Sudan acts in line with its international obligations and commitments on the realization of security and stability. The undersecretary said the presidential directives for the protection of southerners in northern Sudan and of their interests, was a final and decisive manner that could not be reconsidered
He underlined that concerned authorities would maintain security and order during all referendum process and the post-referendum phase. He said the international community would be witness to a peaceful and tranquil referendum similar to the general, legislative and presidential elections held in the Sudan, earlier this year
Rahamtalla urged the Security Council and the international community to live up to their pledges that they would help the government achieve the remainder of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement CPA stipulations and to realize stability so that Sudanese people would enjoy the dividends of peace
