10 November, 2011By: Ahmed Alhaj (Site Admin)
Khartoum, (sudanow.info.sd) – The Army on Thursday said it repulsed a huge attack led by the rebel forces of the Sudan people's liberation Army (SPLA) on Talodi town, one of the main towns in south Kordufan state, inflicting heavy losses on them and capturing a t-55 tank in good condition.
The official Spokesman for the Sudan Armed Forces, Colonel Sawarmi Khalid Saad told the Sudan news agency that ''the defeated forces of the rebel SPLA had wanted, during those days of sacrifice, to tarnish the occasion by trying this very Thursday the 10th of November, to terrorise innocent civilians through a traitorous aggression on the peaceful town of Talodi, involving huge forces backed by tanks and heavy artillery.''
But the spokesman said, the Sudanese army was able to halt them back, five kilometres south of the town where a fiece battle took place with the army showing unequalled bravery and determination, inflicting heavy losses on the rebel and sizing quantities of ammunitions and weapons.
''The gallant Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) warded them off at a distance of five kilometres south of the town, destroying most of their troops in a big battle in which the Armed Forces troops displayed gallantry, determination and strong will, forcing the rebel remnants to flee away leaving behind their dead, while the Armed Forces were able to seize a T-55 Tank in a very good condition, manned by a crew from the Republic of South Sudan who were killed during the battle .'' the spokesman told SUNA.
He said the Armed Forces have also been able to size quantities of weapons and ammunitions. He said the Armed Forces have sustained a number of martyrs and injured.
