The Sudanese government on Monday nods to separation results with a southern leader says it might lead to stronger unity in future

Khartoum, Sudan(sudanow.info.sd) - The government has officially endorsed the results of the Southern Sudan Referendum in which southerners have voted for separation but southern Sudan leader Salva Kiir says this might be the first step for a strong unity if people chose so in the future.
A cabinet meeting headed by President of the Republic Omar Al - Bashir on Monday said the government has endorsed the results of the referendum, which reflects the choice of the southerners, in implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), 2005, that ended the conflict in the Sudan and gave the southerners the right to c hose between unity and separation.
The President has expressed hope that this would mean an end to the war and fighting but would at the same time maintain the strong social bonds linking the northerners and the southerners.
He expressed hope that this would be a start of a new era of relations between two neighbouring states, stressing that he would provide every possible assistance the government in the South would hope to receive from the north.
He expressed hope that what happens in the Sudan would not be a precedent for other Africans to follow but rather a model of how Africans could resolve their differences and live with each other peacefully.
The First Vice President of the Republic, Salva Kiir, the President of the government of Southern Sudan, attended meeting which was held in Khartoum.
He said the borders that would be demarcated were going to be only on the papers, but on the ground the movement of people and goods would not be restricted.
He said he believes that "this separation might lead to even stronger unity in the future if the people chose" to come back to each other.
He said he would be working with the government in the north not only to sell the new idea of the new Sudan but also to help lift sanctions imposed on the Sudan, remove name of the country from the list of countries Washington considers sponsors of terrorism and help find a solution for the Darfur question, which he said, would automatically mean, dropping the ICC accusations.
He said there is also a need for the two sides to work together to see to it that Sudan whooping debts are written off by the west and lenders.
Bashir had met during the past two weeks with all senior military and intelligence and political party leadership to prepare the ground for this announcement. He caped it all with a meeting with the security.
He told officers and privates Sudanese National Security and Intelligence that "we will accept the outcome of this referendum on southern Sudan as it is to be announced by the commission, on Monday."
The Southern Sudan Referendum Commission is scheduled to announce the official result s of the referendum Monday evening which the president said was 100% secession.
