The government says political solution the only way out for Abyei question

Muglad,  (sudanow) - The government on Saturday reaffirmed that the peaceful political resolution is the only way out for Abyei question, reaffirming the need for the two parties in the area, the Misseryiah and the Dinka Ngok to exercise self control and work together for the implementation of the Kadugli conference accord, signed in January 17

 

The Minister of Interior, Ibrahim Mahmud Hamid, and the President Advisor on Security Affairs, General Abdullah Gosh, have reaffirmed in the meeting held here Saturday with the Missyria leadership in Muglad area that the question of Abyei was vital and that it receives the attention from the Presidency of the Republic, stressing the need for the cohesion of the official and popular efforts to guarantee reaching a peaceful solution without bloodletting

 

The Minister of Interior Hamid has said he considered the Kagugli agreement a way that would avert the area any future conflict until a final political agreement has been reached on the issue of Abyei shortly

 

Meanwhile the president Advisor on security affairs, general Salah Abdullah Gosh has underlined that the agreement reached on Friday with the Abyei administration would contributed in a considerable manner to calm the situation , saying it was imperative to work for avoiding any frication and to allow a chance for the political leadership to settle the matter

 

On his part the Governor of South Kordufan state, Ahmed Mohamed Haroon has underlined the keenness of his government to find a peaceful solution to the question of Abyei in coordination with the federal government. He said the question of Abyei was a complex issue that needs more dialogue within the political frameworks and a full commitment to the agreement and accord reaching while at the same time avoiding any violations of agreements and to avoid allowing any party resorting to unilateral solution that would lead to the frication and to increase of congestion in the area

 

The Emir of the Missyria, Mukhtar Babou Nimir has meanwhile spoke on behalf of his people stressing that they fully abide by the agreement reached and their commitment to the peace option and to coexistence

 

It is to be noted that the delegation that accompanied the Minister of Interior and which managed to restore calm in Abyei area included the President Advisor on Security Affairs general Salah Abdullah Gosh, Ambassador Dirdiri, governor of South Kordufan state Ahamed Haroun, General Al Adil Al Ajab, the Director General of the Police force and the joint Chief of staff of the joint forces and on the SPLM side the delegation included Deng Nihal, the Minister for SPLA Affairs, and Deng Alor the Minister for of International Cooperation, and Deng Arop the Head of the Abyei areas administration

 

The meeting which was held at the offices of the United Nations in the area has concluded that a supervision mechanism be formed to monitor the situation on the ground, and to submit report to the president within forty eight hours, fully implement the Kadugli agreement which means pulling out all police force affiliated to the SPLM immediately from the geographical borderlines of Abyei administrative area as the Misserya believe these forces have been subjecting the nomads to provocations, continuously

 

It was also agreed that the two parties commit to payment of paying each other at least 10 % of the overall Diyya and that the security within the borderline so the administrative area of Abyei be shouldered by the joint forces and that The two sides work to control the unruly elements within their side and refrain from all types of provocations and that the dossier be submitted to the presidency of the republic for reaching a and final solution
