Sudanese government and Darfur rebel movement sign a peace deal in Doha, Qatar

Khartoum, (sudanow.info.sd)- The government of Sudan and the Justice and liberation movement signed a peace agreement in Doha, in the presence of President Omar Bashir and of the Qatari Emir, Sheikh Hamad al Thani, and a number of heads of state and government of neighbouring countries as well as international organizations and officials, besides heads of local communities from Darfur..
The document according to the Sudan News Agency, reporting from Qatar, covered seven areas including the return and compensation for the refugees and the internally displaced persons, power and wealth sharing, human rights, basic freedoms, justice and reconciliation, ceasefire and final security arrangements, and finally mechanism for consultation, internal dialogue and implementation mechanisms.
The agreement stipulates right of the refugees and the internally displaced persons to regain their land plots that they possessed before leaving their home areas, and that they be promptly and adequately compensated for any losses incurred during the time of deprivation from those plots, and that no one should be denied group or individual from traditional rights on a given land or area or from having access to water resources.
The document also gives the returnees, be they refugees or internally displaced persons, the right to voluntary return to their home areas and to have all the suitable conditions prepared for their return and to have full protection during their return and upon settlement.
