KHARTOUM,(sudanow.info.sd) -The Government says sanctions imposed by the American administration on the Sudan have been politically motivated and are meant to harm the vital interests of the Sudanese people.

''These sanctions imposed by the American administration on the Sudan are in essence political and are meant to harm the vital interests of the Sudan through frustration of its aspiration in development and obstruction of peace process, fighting of poverty and unemployment'' statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement argues, ''These sanctions have always been pouring in favour of the rebel groups and serving to exercise more pressure on the government of Sudan with the view to extract more concessions on the political stands of the Sudan, particular those stands relatives to the American hegemony in the region.''

The statement said Sudan and all free will people of the world have been rejecting such forced measures as they are means for economic and political extortion and stand as clear violation to the principles of the UN Charter and the international laws and conventions organizing trade, economic and financial relations among states, as they negatively affect the freedom of movement of international trade.

''The American Administration has more than once conceded that Sudan has honoured its commitments, but the administration continued to retract on promises it makes on lifting of sanctions imposed on the Sudan'' the statement said.

The statement said the government of Sudan has condemned the conduct of the American administration and its double standards, saying Sudan would continue to hold to the independence of its national decision, the right of the Sudanese people to live free and independent, without fear from any party or desire for bequest.
