Port Sudan (Sudanow)—The Red Sea Tourism and Shopping Festival is one of the prominent touristic festivals in the Sudan. It is part of efforts aimed at introducing tourism in East Sudan and at activating internal tourism and attracting foreign tourists. The Red Sea State is the Sudan’s number one touristic region because it possesses the world’s purest coast in addition to its islands, protectorates, aquatic life and coral reefs besides the diving tourism, under-water photographing and fishing.

The Red Sea Government organizes annual festivals for displaying the touristic features, demonstrating the cultural and ethnic heritage and spotlighting the historic antiquities of the region

The sixth session of the Red Sea Tourism and Shopping Festival has recently been inaugurated in the Red Sea capital Port Sudan to continue from November 22 to March 15.

He said this is the sixth session of the festival which, according to Awadab, achieves a significant success each year. It has contributed to reactivating domestic tourism and to making the Red Sea a Ka’abah for tourists from different parts of the Sudan as well as foreign tourists, he said.

“We have virgin and clean beaches that attract the divers, with a clear vision under the crystal water,” Awadab boasted. He added that region is rich in numerous kinds of coral reefs and coloured fish of a fascinating sight. There are numbers of amphibious animals such as the sea turtles, he said

The plain is permeated by streams forming valleys and streams flowing from the west of the city to the Red Sea coast.
