KHARTOUM (SUDANOW) The President of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) Jim Boumelha arrived Monday in Khartoum to attend the regional summit conference of the East Africa's journalists unions.

The two-day conference, which is organized by the Sudanese Journalists Union (SJU), will open tomorrow (Tuesday) at Coral Hotel.

Boumelha expressed happiness for visiting Sudan to participate in this conference and hailed the SJU for organizing such important gathering that would discuss a number of regional and international issues including the financial crisis and regional conflicts.

SJU President al-Sadig al-Reizaigi welcomed the visit of the IFJ president indicating that it was the second visit to Sudan within less than six months.

During his previous visit, Boumelha participated in the meetings of the Executive Council of the East Africa’s Journalists group.

Both officials expressed hope that the conference would come out with recommendations that would have positive effect on the press performance in the region.
