FVP: Pledges to Fight Corruption, Build Shoura and Democracy, Open Doors for Inclusive National Dialogue

KHARTOUM (SUDANOW) - The First Vice-President Lt. Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih, said the government reform process seeks to fight corruption, hold an all-inclusive national dialogue and achieve peace in the country.
Bakri said, in a press conference he held Monday at the cabinet, the government reform program aims for completing establishment of the state of Shura and democracy, building the country in a way to provide better services for the people of the Sudan.
He said the reform program will be implemented through mechanisms and in particular timetables, adding that these decisions necessitate adoption of legislation and laws before June 2016 and there are decisions that will be implemented immediately while others require more time to study and to implement.
The First Vice - President said 33 decisions that include 280 items will be published shortly. He said that the government was giving great consideration to the civil service and regards it as the basic foundation for reform. He explained that the reform program will lead to improvement of living conditions, adding that this program will be implemented at the legal, security, defense, information and economic fields.
Salih has affirmed the government keenness to combat corruption. He said specific bodies have been established to this end.
Gen. Bakri said with regards to fighting corruption, amendment will be introduced in the Unlawful Gains Act in order to give the commission for Combating Corruption more leverage.
He stressed the importance of increasing production of electricity which is necessary for development. He said the country’s need of energy stands at 5000 megawatts of electricity power, adding that the current electricity generation was about 2983 megawatts.
The First Vice - President affirmed the Government commitment to implement the economic liberalization policy and combating smuggling.
He also commended the agreement which was signed with Russia for gold exploration.
The first vice president has meanwhile underlined the government keenness to provide guarantees for the armed opposition groups to participate in the national dialogue.
He renewed the commitment to provide guarantees for the armed movements, underlining the need to realize mutual confidence and to encourage rebel elements and the gun-holders to join the peace and participate in the national dialogue. He pledged government commitment to implement the outcome of the outcome of the dialogue. He said this all inclusive dialogue will be held at home before coming October.
He indicated that universities were assigned to prepare the papers for the national dialogue, adding that the societal dialogue committees have finalized preparing their working papers which will be referred to an academic institution to formulate one paper out of them.
