NDC Committee Recommends National Accord Government
29 February, 2016By: Aisha Braima
KHARTOUM (SUDANOW) - The Secretary General of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC) Professor Hashim Ali Salem told Sudan News Agency (SUNA) on Monday that all the six NDC committees have submitted their recommendations to the General Secretariat.
The most prominent recommendations of the Governance Committee (GC) included establishment of a national accord government three months after passage of the conference recommendations by the NDC General Assembly.
According to the GC Chairman Professor Barakat Mussa al-Hawati the four-year national accord government will be formed of the parties which took part in the ND and those who will accept the ND recommendations later on. The recommended government is to be formed three months after passage of the recommendations of the NDC six committees by the ND General Assembly.
He said another outstanding recommendation provides for creation of a position of prime minister to be appointed by the President of the Republic.
Hawati said the national accord government would be tasked with implementation of the recommendations of the NDC six committees, inserting the necessary amendments to the present 2005 Constitution and holding free and fair general elections.
Senior concerned figures have announced two days ago that ND Coordination Mechanism (7+7) and the General Secretariat would meet President Omar al-Beshir in the coming days to arrange for convening the General Assembly for passage of the recommendations.
