President al-Beshir to Participate in Security Forum in Ethiopia

BAHIR DAR, ETHIOPIA (SUDANOW) - Sudanese President Omar al-Beshir arrived Friday evening in Bahir Dar town, adjacent to Lake Tana in Ethiopia, for participation in the fifth Tana High Level Forum on Security in Africa due to begin on Saturday.
The two-day forum, in which a number of African leaders and representatives of international and regional organizations are to take part, will discuss issues of peace and security in the African Continent and ways for cooperation for reaching understandings in support of efforts by the African governments for achieving security in African countries.
President Beshir was accompanied by the Minister of the Presidency Affairs,Dr. Fadul Abdalla Fadul, Security Chief Mohamed Ata al-Moula Abbas and State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Oubaidalla Mohamed Oubaidalla.
The Opening Session will be addressed by Ethiopian Prime Minister, Chairperson of the African Union Commission , Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, a number of African head of states and prominent figures including former South African President Thabo Mbeki and former secretary-general of the United Nations Kofi Annan.
The Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa is an annual Forum that brings together African leaders and stakeholders to engage and explore African-led security solutions.The Forum is an initiative of the Institute for Peace and Security Studies (Addis Ababa University) with a view to contributing to the implementation of the 2009 AU Tripoli Declaration on the Elimination of Conflicts in Africa and the Promotion of Sustainable Peace which appeals for African-centred solutions and designates peace and security as a collective intellectual challenge.
The inaugural Forum was held in April, 2012 in Bahir Dar.
