First Nursery For Employing Down Syndrome Persons

KHARTOUM (Sudanow) - Salute should be paid to three benevolent ladies for caring with the most underprivileged category in the society, persons with Down Syndrome.

A nursery was opened on Saturday for the first time to employ graduates of the Down Syndrome center's horticulture section.

This was one of many such vanguard and pioneering activities carried out by Ibtihaj Ouhaj, as founder and longtime director of the center, to upgrade the skills of this category and turn them into productive members within their communities.

The second woman involved in this programme is the member of the Sovereign Council, Aisha Musa. She paid a visit to the center, as part of her devotion to serving the person with special needs and upholding the fulfilment of their rights.

A mother of one of the center's horticulture section conveyed to her the need for a nursery for the graduates. The nursery plot was donated to the center by Aisha's sister Niemat. All the 22 graduates will work in the nursery.

Beside the horticulture, the center also hosts six other activities providing vocational training as well.
