Champion Mohamed Derar Harvests Karate Gold

KHARTOUM (Sudanow) - Sudanese hero Mohamed Eehab Jafar Derar has won the gold medal in the Grand Prix Karate Online Tournament, Para-Karate Male, organized in Georgia during July 20-24, with 26 countries taking part.
This is the second time in two months Sudan’s national flag is raised in this contest after two other Sudanese kids with down syndrome had won silver and bronze medals in the previous challenge contest in Italy.
Ebtihaj Mohamed Ohaj, director of the Sudan Center for Persons with Down Syndrome said “in the first contest in Italy, Sudan was represented by three players, winning the second, third and fourth rank.
Contenders in the Italy championship beside Mohamed Derar were Alsir Hafiz and Abdallah Alhadi.”
In the Georgia contest, Ebtihaj said they participated with only one player, Mohamed Derar.
She said they are now designing a new plan for the upcoming contests for which they received invitations after the organizers saw the excellent showing of the Sudanese players.
