Winners Of Al-Tayeb Salih International Award Announced

KHARTOUM (Sudanow) – The winners of Al-Tayeb Salih International Award for Creative Writing’s three categories have been announced Thursday night.
The Award’s value in each category is 15000 dollar for the first place, 10000 dollar for the second place and 8000 dollar for the third place. The first prize in the critic studies was received by Faisal Salih from Iraq, the second prize went to Abdul Karim Yahia Alzaibari, also from Iraq and the third prize was awarded to Muhmoud Faragali from Egypt.
Winners of the Short Story prizes are Ms. Fadwa Ahmed from Morocco, Ms Ragaa Nima from Lebanon and Shazli Jafar from Sudan respectively.
The Awards’ Novel Category prizes were received by Mr. Abdul Basit Zahkanini from Morocco, the second prize went to Ms. Galia Younis from Libya and the third prize was handed to Said Alkhaiz, also from Morocco.
The Sudanese renowned academic Dr. Malik Babikir Badri has been chosen by the Awards Board of Trustees as the Person of the Year for his decades-long involvement in the field of psychology researches in both Arab and Muslim world.


The South Sudanese renowned writer and UN expert Dr. Francis Deng has been the Guest of Honour for the 10th edition of the Award.
The awards distribution ceremony was attended by Dr. Sideeg Tawour, member of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Minister of Information Faisal Mohamed Salih, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Information Al-Rashid Saeed, a number of members of the diplomatic corps and Arab and Sudanese writers.
The Award is sponsored by Zain telecommunication company in commemoration of the late Sudanese international novelist Altayeb Salih.
