ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (sudanow.info.sd) – The African Dignity Forum on Friday honored President Omar al-Bashir in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa, within the activities of the forum that took an initiative naming President Bashir “Champion of African Dignity”.
Al-Bashir, who left for Addis Ababa same day accompanied by Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour and State Minister at the Ministry Obiedalla Mohamed Obiedalla, attended the honouring ceremony which was organized at Nelson Mandela Hall at Addis Ababa University.
The Initiative is a partnership between the University of Peace which is affiliated to the UN and has branches in a number of African countries, the Islamic International Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ISESCO), the Peace and Studies on Conflicts at the University of Addis Ababa and the Sudanese Peace and Human Rights Centre.
It was initiated by a group of activists and academics with the purpose of preserving the freedom and dignity of the African continent, rejecting foreign interference in the continent's internal affairs and the unfairly targeting of its leaders by the neocolnization agents.
The Initiative has chosen President al-Bashir to be honoured in recognition of his continuous endeavors for achieving development, peace and instability of the continent.
A number of African activists including university vice chancellors, professors of law and politicians have taken part in the ceremony which included theatrical performances, singing and dancing.
